Sleep Deprivation can Increase Weight?

Before going to Sleep Deprivation, we will discuss in detail about “sleep”, the natural periodic suspension of consciousness during which the powers of the body are restored. There is something interesting the sleep is “sleep cycle”, a cycle lasts about 90 minutes and during that time we move through five stages of sleep. The first four stages make up our non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, and the fifth stage is when rapid eye movement (REM) sleep occurs. It is very difficult to wake someone who is in Stage 4 sleep. Only we can survive 11 days (264 hours) without sleep. Some of the most serious potential problems associated with chronic sleep deprivation are high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack, heart failure or stroke.

Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. Now, we will discuss about “Sleep Deprivation”, it is a condition of not having enough sleep it can be either chronic or acute. There are some adverse effects with chronic sleep-restricted state, fatigue, daytime sleepiness, clumsiness and weight loss or weight gain, affects the brain and cognitive function as well.

To overcome from sleep deprivation is to increase total sleep time. If a sleep disorder is interrupting sleep, the problem will need to be addressed in order to improve sleep duration and quality. Inadequate sleep hygiene or insufficient sleep is often a cause that needs to be addressed.
